Gardening mode..

Wuzzup guys..Things are going a little slow in Ms Pinkie Rabbit's garden..but she has come back with a vengeance..Yup..a new era has emerged..What I mean is basically replacing old plants with new ones..This morning, I got an extra energy to pull out all ageing spinach plants from their roots and sowed the pots with celery, coriander and new jade pak choy..The rest of the stories are in the caption under the pics ok?

This coriander has already bolted. When they bolted they will give out smaller sized leaves..i continued plucking them to promote growth and they are doing fine..

I was astonished at the plight of this small chilli plant..She's so tiny but has already bearing me fruit..Though there is only one, but it kept me captivated just to watch her growing..

Remember my last entry on making your own liquid enzyme? I have started using them on my plants and eversince, my kaffir lime plants are growing new shoots and are looking healthier too..Next to them is my lemongrass (serai) plant that has been a given a new hair cut..:)

I dunno what I have in mind when I sowed both pak choy and daikon in the same pot..Now I dun have the heart to remove both..what the heck..juz leave them alone!..btw, the pak choy flowers look really pretty dun they?

Chives are growing rampantly in my garden, sharing the pot with the coriander

My now aging okras..The leaves had fallen out..The fruit was left to mature to bear me seeds..but I plant to test a new breed..not quite happy with this one,,but they really are faithful..

As already mentioned earlier, the spinach has been pulled out and I have already sowed them with coriander, celery and new jade pak choy..

To date I have already harvested about 15 roselle fruits..I know the amount is very little but I yearned to have a taste of home made roselle juice. This was made out from around 10 roselle fruits..Can't wait to taste them. I left them to cool down as I update my blog!The upper pic showed you the roselle seeds that are being dried for seed savings..

My roselle plant thriving well..hoping she can  bear me ribena-tasted fruits soon..

Kesom plant..growing taller and adding more branches..thinking of pruning them later..

My bamboo dance spinach and white spinach mingled together very well..The one with the mesh wire on was sowed with loose leaf summer green salad.The mesh wire was made to keep the furry friend out ..grrrr!!

A row of Mediterranean herbs..from left: celery, cinnamon basil, sage and rosemary..rosemary did not do very well these days..I wonder why..huhuhu

Kacang buncis or bean ..climbing up my fence without any teaching..a pretty clever plant, I must say..

A pot of lemon grass/serai..the leaves need some trimming I believe..

Kaffir lime plant/ pokok limau purut..this is essential for the next pot of tomyam!

Sorry folks for the long silence..been busy with personal things lately..Btw, things are going very well in my edible garden..2 days ago, we have the 1st harvest of my bamboo dance spinach (bayam daun tajam), my very 1st bak choy (aaahhhh..finally) and the evergrowing chives..Here r the pics:

Fresh from the garden after a heavy downpour..it couldn't get any fresher than this!

The credit should be given to En Iskandar from tanamsendiri.com..I was asking him last week why my bak choy was slow growing and many has actually withered away.. He suggested that I put them in a place where they can received sunlight especially in the morning, when plants make their food the most. He also mentioned that to build a strong stalk, they need plenty of sunlight and nutrients .So I quickly moved the bak choy pot (actually only 1 survived out of 20 plants I germinated) to a new place where the sun 1st hit in the morning. To my surprise, the stalk really grow, just as what Mr Iskandar said! So, within 2 weeks, I finally harvested my very 1st bak choy and I was really proud when my twin sis jealously commenting that maybe I used some growth hormone on them!!Hehehe..this bak choy is 100% organically grown and I strictly reminded myself that anything grown in my edible garden will be pesticide and hormone-free! 

        In this rainy season, my 3 pots of kangkung is doing very well and I planned to harvest them nx week. I have also asked Mr Warhammer to buy a mesh-wire to keep out the cat that littered my new pots of salad last week. Since the soil has already been infected by the fungal in their faeces, I throw away the soil, washed the pot and replaced the soil..I then sowed a generous amount of loose leaf summer salad in the pot..The mesh wire was put on top of it to keep the nasty cat out..grrrrr...!!

          The french bean is also doing very well eventhough I am very dissapointed that out of 8 beans sowed, only 1 germinate but she is thriving very well now that I had placed the pot near the fence..They have already climbing on the fence without any teaching from me..hehehe..they are very smart, really..

           My porch has officially became the Mediterranean herbs garden..this is where I put all my rosemary, sage, cinnamon basil and celery plants..Sometimes, when it is windy you can smell the fresh aromas come from these herbs.. They enjoy sunlight very much but respond rather badly to too much water..So since I did not trust the weather lately, they are kept under the protective shade of the porch and they seemed to love it..I have also added pandan or screwpine, kaffir lime, tomyam chillies, oval capsicum and red chillies to my edible garden..Will update about them later..Till then, bye-bye, folks!!

Turmeric oh turmeric..

Heyo there! Yesterday, I harvested turmeric from the small pot I have in my edible garden. The pot seemed overcrowded and I can see the  turmeric already popped out of the ground. So I pulled the biggest plant and left the younger ones to grow more leaves for my rendang.. Here are the snapshots of my first harvest of turmeric ..

The turmeric was just taken from one  plant..I was quite surprised with what I found..

These chives were harvested from the pot Mum gave me ..Half of these ended up in my fried char kuey teow last night..hehehe

Just a day before, we had roasted chicken and salad for dinner. The chicken was marinated with rosemary leaves (from my edible garden, of course!), garlic, black pepper, salt and some olive oil. We devoured on it hungrily until I didn't have the time to snap it :).. Btw,  I came across this oval shape capsicum from JUSCO and added it into my salad. It had a sweet natural taste and so crispy that I munched on it while cooking. I also scattered the seeds in a pot  with the hope it will germinate and produce me more of these crispy capsicums..yummy!!

The salad was so tasty that I made another round of salad for my lunch today!

I'm quite worried with the number of pots we have in our garden at the moment. Added up, there are altogether 38 pots in my garden! Mr Warhammer advised me that I should stop adding more pots and let whatever I have right now to grow and sow more plants after the first harvest..I have already bought carrots, butterhead and purple salad seeds and I couldn't wait to sow the seeds..but my hubby was right..I should take a break and watched my babies grow and harvest them before sowing more..Looking forward for the next harvest..Take, care!!

More updates on my edible garden..

Things are going rather slow  around my edible garden recently..There were several days of heavy downpours that totally destroyed my chinese celery that were grown from the stumps. What a heartache!! I vow to myself that after this, all the baby plants and recently sowed plants will be moved under the porch where they can also enjoy plenty of sun lights and at the same time protected from the vicious rain. There were also additional pots,  added to my edible garden since I have already used up all the pots that were given by my MIL. Enough of the blabbing, check these out, folks!!

After the rain had mercilessly destroyed my chinese celery, I planted another 8 stumps and put them under the shade.

I bought 7 small pots for seeds sowing from TESCO for about RM0.70 each..This time I labelled the pots carefully to avoid confusion

The pakchoy (New Jade),Extra Dwarf Pakchoy  and Bamboo Dance Spinach all sowed in the same  pot..I made a mistake of sowing too much in 1 hole. Will just sprinkle the seeds evenly next  time..(making a mental note to myself)

My disarray onion leaves ..waiting to be harvested..blame it on the rain!

These are New Jade Pak Choy in 2 different size pot. I noticed that pak choy grown in bigger pot will grow up much faster than the smaller pot..

Tomato plants, they are such a slow grower..waiting patiently for them to grow bigger before removing them to a bigger pot

Kangkong is my champ..They are so easy to grow and they looked cute! Think there will be another 2 weeks before they can be harvested

My roselle plant. Out of 5 seeds harvested, 3 had emerged and growing at a very fast rate..Next to them, I discovered that the coriander has also germinated (pics not shown). Can't wait to taste the ribena-like juice from the flowers!

 New member in my edible garden..the rosemary plant..I bought this from COLD STORAGE for about RM 5.90..I then transferred it to a new pot upon reaching home..plan to use them to marinate my roasted chicken tomorrow..yummy

 My mum also gave me another pot full of chives but I harvested all the chives and arranged the younger ones properly to make some way for my growing bakchoy and spinach..Now, I will spend almost half-an hour every evening to water and inspect the plants..Feels like I can look at them for hours without being bored!
