Okra you make my day!!

Hi there..I just finished my 1st draft of thesis so been quite busy lately..but now, since I have some spare time, gardening is back on the list of things to do..yippy..Well, yesterday I visisted my twin sis who lived nearby and she gave me some vegetable compost to feed my hungry veggies..so in the evening,  my 2 little helpers followed me around while I fed all my veggies with the compost..I noticed there was one bigger bud growing on one of my okra, but I presumed it was a bunch of new leaves coming out. But, this morning, when I peeped down from my bedroom window I saw this awesome pale yellow with deep maroon centre flower coming out from my okra! I couldn't contain my excitement, so I ran out and took the pic of this gorgeous okra flower..Check it out..!!

 While taking photo of the okra flower, I caught a glimpse of my kangkung (water spinach) begging for me to harvest them..since we will be having fried fish for dinner, a nice kangkung dish with some coconut milk will go very well with the fish, so I decided to harvest the kangkung..

This kangkung was planted in just a styrofoam container..no pesticide, no chemicals, just plain chicken manure fertlizer!You can do it too, you know..

My 1st harvest of kangkung..

It has been raining heavily for the past weeks which made me moved all my okra to a new spot under the porch..The rainy days however, brought good news to my water convolvulus (or kangkung) and kesom..they grew very well in this rainy season..so after seeing a few leaves turning yellow..I finally summoned the courage and decided to harvest them for the very first time..

I know this is not much..but it was good enough for me...I also harvested a stalk of onion leaves together..

My earlier sowed bak choy did not survive very well, though..just keeping my fingers crossed for them to survive.. the veggies sowed together in the long pot on the other hand are doing very well under the porch..

My chinese celery..I noticed that they cannot have too much water..one stalk has already died on me..

My baby bak choy..I have already plucked some so that they will have ample of space to grow..

Some of these are bak choy extra dwarf..

Bamboo dance spinach..they are slow growers compared to bak choy at first, but suddenly undergoing a growth spurt!

I was feeling under the weather these few days..so not much gardening activity around the house until today..I managed to pluck dead leaves and sowed more kangkung seeds and butterhead lettuce..but all are kept under the protective shade of my porch..The weather was unpredictable these days!!

My Edible Garden: Current updates!

Good Monday morning, folks!! It has been a very busy weekend between spending time with my loved ones, gardening and weeding our new house in Bangi..Anyway, can't wait to fill you up on the current updates,so, what are you waiting for, check these out, folks!!

My kesom plant also started to grow leaves..plan to stick more stems to this pot soon! They looked a bit disarray, though..

Can you guess which plant does these adorable leaves belong to?? It's the kangkong plant!! They grow in just 3 days after sowing!

My turmeric plant grows profusely well after putting in some organic fertiliser about 3 weeks ago..See how lush the leaves are!

Still confused whether these are capsicum or chillies plant since I sowed them in the same pot.Whatever it is, it's growing well in my garden!

My onion leaves turned a bit yellowish due to the dry spells these few days. Hope they are ok! If you noticed, the part from where they were last cut was thinner than from the one recently sowed, but was still good for consumption..Waiting for the right time to harvest them..

Aaaah..the chinese celery leaves are growing very fast from the stalks planted..Can imagine the leaves floating in my chicken soup already..hehehe

These tomato plants were sowed in the oil container last week..There are about 7 plants altogether..I planned to shift them to a bigger pot when they are stronger. Loos like the seeds from TESCO won after all..The one from the leftovers has not germinated yet..

From my previous post, I did mention that this small zinnia has turned from pinkish to whitish, right?? However, after putting fish gut and prawn head fertiliser, it suddenly turned pinkish again!!

I guess the pH of the soil has come to the right level again.I 'm hoping all the flowers will turn pinkish so that they can add more colours to my lawn. Btw, I'm making my own organic fertiliser from fish gut, prawn head and prawn shell. What I did was I blend all these together with water and you'll have your own organic fertiliser..I did this every 2 weeks..The result?? You just see how lush  my turmeric plant now. 6  months before, I neglected it and just leave it out  there to survive on its own..

     Btw, I have also spotted new leaves coming out from another pot but I'm still wondering whether it is the coriander plant (ketumbar) or roselle plant since I sowed both in the same pot..It's fun guessing which plant the leaves belong to..will snap the pics soon..Ta-ta, folks!!
